Junior Oilers Blue Alumni Shine on National Stage on 2024 World Junior A Challenge Roster
Hockey Canada recently announced the 60 players invited to Canada East and Canada West selection camps for the 2024 World Junior A Challenge, and four Junior Oilers Blue alumni were among those selected to compete for roster spots.
Congratulations to:
Max Algajer (Grande Prairie Storm)
Zach Coutu (Canmore Eagles)
Spencer Masters (Camrose Kodiaks)
Garrett Thom (Camrose Kodiaks)
From December 3–5, these players participated in an intensive selection camp in Calgary that included practices and intrasquad games. Their performances were evaluated by team management and coaching staff as they competed for a chance to represent Canada on one of the two rosters.
The World Junior A Challenge, hosted this year in Camrose, Alberta, from December 9–15, brings together some of the best Junior A players from across Canada and the world. Canada East’s roster features athletes from the five eastern leagues of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), while Canada West represents players from the four western leagues, including the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).
After a highly competitive selection process, we are proud to share that Junior Oilers alumni Max Algajer and Garrett Thom have officially made the Canada West roster!
This incredible achievement is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and talent. The entire Junior Oilers community is inspired by their success and proud to see them represent our program on the national stage.
Congratulations to Max and Garrett, and best of luck to Canada West in Camrose. Your Junior Oilers family is cheering for you every step of the way!
